ClueQuest 2009 A Success!

KALAMAZOO – ClueQuest 2009 was a rousing success! Michigan Film Corps (MFC)—the new Kalamazoo-based non-profit organization—held their first ever fundraising event this past Sunday to large numbers. More than a dozen Portage-Kalamazoo businesses and over eighty local residents participated in what was billed as “Kalamazoo’s Biggest Adventure!”

Teams met at the Overlander Bandshell in Central Park in Portage, where team photos were taken and pizza was served. Things got off to a wild start when teams were told to collect puzzle pieces hidden throughout the park for points.

Activities varied at each location; there was beading at The Bead Shop; “Bagel Plinko” at Big Apple Bagels on S. Westnedge; puzzle solving at Fanfare Sports and Entertainment; frisbee golf at Lee’s Adventure Sports; jingle-singing at Mattress Mart; digging for buried treasure at Medawar Jewelers; pizza-making at Papa Murphy’s Pizza; 3-ball challenge at Playtime Billiards; perform on camera at Second Childhood; doing each other’s hair at Tuscany Salon; being quizzed at Wild Birds and Beyond; and making snacks at Young Chefs Academy.

The after party was held at WMU’s Fetzer Center. Sponsors gave out door-prizes and MFC served dessert. The drama intensified with a tie between second and third place teams. Members from both teams were asked to participate in a tie-breaker. The teams tossed donuts—donated from Sweetwater’s Donut Mill—into each other’s mouths!

The event raised money for Michigan Film Corps and was an incredible success. All profits raised go toward fulfilling MCF’s mission statement to connect Michigan students with industry professionals to produce feature films.
